For much of 2008 and 2009, the Memorial Gardens were struggling as we had to purchase water for the trees and while this keeps them alive, it really is not enough moisture for them to prosper. When the rains came in late 2009, the dam filled and there was once again moisture in the ground and the trees responded well.
Of course so far in 2010, we are having extremely hot days which are baking the earth – but at least we had a bit of a break last year.
